Only one thing to be added: the ability to book multi-city trip as they propose on their website!
If you go across china by yourself this app is perfect. Download it on computer or smartphone or tablet and you will be able to book flights and hotels in the whole china very easily. You can put the app in many different languages as French or English or so... I recommend.
The app brings a good experience when searching for flights and hotels on the move.
The best way to travel in China and around. Friendly staffs, easy to handle changes and/or cancelation.
Very useful, but, I would like to have access to the train schedule in the app too..
I used ctrip in the past on my laptop for all domestic China flights. Therefore my details are stored with them.
The app improves the booking process tremendously and is very easy to use.
Some bad moments
You cant book with USD. Only limited number of flights for the routes I checked. Worst: turns on your Background Refresh upon launch - why the heck would a booking app need that??!
Update:
No USD option for payments. They had that option but now you only see prices in Yuan at Check out time. They also have issues with showing one price and emailing you with another price of confirmation. Last but not least their hotel prices are misleading. They show you one price that has not been updated. Once you click on hotel to book the price changes or tells you that no rooms are available. They need to organize their app to run properly and show updated prices which are correct and not show you one price only to show you a higher price once you click to book!
To use CTrip Money they require a pin. You can not use CTrip money without enabling pin which you can not do by yourself using application online from your iPhone. Called customer service which was an international call and was on hold for 15 minutes with no answer. They make it difficult for you to use your points (CTrip) money which is horrible. 1 star review until they fix this problem! It should be very easy for people to enable and use from their smartphones but it is not. PIN problem still exists in app. Not user friendly for getting pin to work in app.Does not make sense why you can log in but not access C-Money or points without freakin PIN Number!!! Idiots at C-Ctrip, please fix this!!!!
C-Trip still does not show points earned for current booking before or after booking. They supposedly email you after 1 month what you earned. Been having a lot of trouble booking with them in Hong Kong and Thailand. They cancel bookings for stupid reasons and it takes 10 calls with a Supervisor to get issue resolved which is always their fault and mistake. One of the reasons it turns out that room was cancelled because they want you to book again at a higher price. Apple should look into their booking practices in this application.
The application started out ok, but then when I got to the payment screen the troubles began. When using my Unionpay debit card, the application inputs your name the same way as your ticket. LASTNAME/FIRSTNAME MIDDLENAME. The problem is that if your bank doesnt also have your name exactly like this format, your card will not work. Then the application wants you to try again. After several failed attempts, I called customer service. The first time, they told me to try again. Same result. Second call, start over but that flights not available at that price. It just happened to increase ¥300 in ten minutes.
So I tried to book that flight, same problem. Third call to customer service I asked them to book it. But they cant take a debit card, credit card only. So I was screwed. Btw, the price continued to increase. I felt it was a scam to increase fares. I ended up going to another site to book it and got the same fare as my first try here. So this application is useless to me. Another issue is that the Chinese version allows payment by WeChat Wallet, but the English version doesnt accept it.
I was glad to know CTRIP has now an app available as I am a regular customer. But after only one minute using it, I was disappointed: when you select your flight, you cant go further and you cant click anywhere to buy your ticket... I am using on my ipad so I would like to know if other people are facing the same pb... So basically the only thing I can do is check the timetable and the prices. Not buy my ticket. So all in one its useless.
Getting the ticket on the app was supposed to be 5% cheaper!!!

Really bad first experience...
The app and CTrip itself are awesome. Functions are cleverly developed and the design is beautiful. The only issue is this unbelievably annoying redirecting bug this app seems to have. Im always using it while being connected to the wifi. But apparently it doesnt matter how good or bad the wifi is, it feels like Russian roulette whether the app will connect you to the CTrip servers or not. And especially if you have some spontaneous things to book you start raging when it doesnt connect you although youre standing there having full wifi connection. Trough that youre losing customers CTrip hence Im always choosing another provider to book whenever this app doesnt connect me and I cant give you more than two stars for it. Working and connecting properly is the essence of an app...so fix it!!!
